Cambridge Academy was founded in 1968 by a group of dedicated parents and community leaders that had one goal in mind: to offer a college preparatory curriculum of excellence. Since 1968, Cambridge students have taken the challenge of the school’s motto, “Aim High.” Our students lead in the political, scientific, service, and artistic venues in Greenwood and across the country, reflecting an education that expands their minds and vision.
Our graduates are spread out across the entire United States and several countries over seas.
|The original school crest, designed at the founding of the school in 1968, reads “Petite Optimum” which embodies one of the school’s core values – seek to be the best in everything you do and in all your interactions with others, “Aim High.” Today, the original crest is used interchangeably with our fresh, new logo created in 2010.|
The nine stars in the crest represent the original founders who met to set in motion “this courageous venture that was to become Cambridge Academy.” They are: Dr. Rodney Culler, Chairman, Mrs. Stanley Baker, Jr., Mrs. J. Ed Barnette, Mr. Fred Buzhardt, Mr. H.L. Connors, Mr. E.I. Davis, Mr. Marshall Mays, Mr. G.J. Sanders, Jr., Mr. Tom Swift.
|Alma Mater||School Prayer|
School we love so well,
Our hearts are filled with joy and pride,
Our history we tell.
For love of learning our minds will mold,
To gain more knowledge our greatest goal;
We sing then proudly
Our Cambridge Song.Cambridge Academy,
As the years go by,
We’ll know our school stood for the right,
And evil we’ll defy.
As citizens of a country free,
May strength of purpose our motto be;
We sing then proudly, Our Cambridge song.(click here to listen to the Alma Mater)
